Gregg Bissonette and All Star Cast Join YouTube Drummer Wanted Sensation Dean Zimmer

OXNARD, CALIFORNIA (September 27, 2013) – Grammy Award-winner Gregg Bissonette will be performing tonight at 6pm on DrumChannel.com with Dean Zimmer, featured in the popular YouTube video “Drummer Wanted,” and an all-star cast. The show will feature a reunion of the Woodland Hills Drum Club, including Terry Bozzio, Doane Perry, and Myron Grombacher. Drummer Mark Craney started the group with Bissonette, Grombacher, Perry, and Bozzio in Woodland Hills, California.

Dean Zimmer was born with arthrogryposis and has always been in a wheelchair. The video explores his life, including what he has to do just to get his drums in his car, drive his specially rigged van, and get up onto a drum stool. With his band, Zimmer has opened for many major touring acts including Eddie Money, Styx, Paul Rodgers, Thin Lizzy, and Kansas.

“Dean is a true inspiration,” says Bissonette. “Anytime I think about complaining, I think of Dean and how humble he is. Not only is he so inspiring for everyone, he is an incredible drummer.”

Mark Craney introduced Bissonette to Zimmer 25 years ago and the two have been friends ever since. A film director and friend of Dean’s is currently making a film about Zimmer’s life. The first clip of the documentary was released on YouTube on August 12, 2013.

Bissonette recently announced his online drum school, the Gregg Bissonette Drum School, which is hosted on DrumChannel.com. He has played with some of the biggest names in the music industry, including Ringo Starr, Santana, James Taylor, David Lee Roth, Toto, Linda Ronstadt, Andrea Bocelli, Brian Wilson, Smash Mouth, the Doobie Brothers, Barry Manilow, Ozzy Osbourne, the Brian Setzer Band, Enrique Iglesias, and the world’s loudest band, Spinal Tap. He has played on scores for TV (Friends and 10 Years) and film, including Best in Show, The Devil Wears Prada, American Pie, The Bucket List, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Enchanted, Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind.

Gregg has played live on American Idol as well as on the Academy Award-winning song “Man or Muppet” from the major motion picture The Muppets. He also played on the album Santana Supernatural, which won 11 Grammys, and Live in Osaka with Larry Carlton and Steve Lukather, which won a Grammy for best pop instrumental.
